Firth is the first female skater from Western New York to ever represent the U.S. at a senior international event. Firth placed seventh in the Short Program and sixth in the Free Skate. Europe’s top figure skating stars were among the field who placed above Firth. "I’m really proud of myself," said Firth, 16, who was the second youngest competitor. "I fought for every point in both my short and long program. It was an awesome experience to represent the United States." Wyse, co-director of the Jamestown Skating Academy, said, "We are very proud of her. She handled the experience like a seasoned pro. The Finnish capacity crowd loved her!"
