![]() Skate Chautauqua To Begin Friday At Ice ArenaBy The Post-Journal Staff8/13/2007 - The annual Skate Chautauqua will bring hundreds of up-and-coming figure skaters to the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena for competition Friday and Saturday. Skate Chautauqua has presented Olympic Champion Sarah Hughes, World Champions Miki Ando and Kimmie Meissner, and Junior World Champion Jennifer Kirk. Sarah Hughes, 2002 Olympic Champion skated to victory at Skate Chautauqua in 1997 and always says that Jamestown is where her 'winning streak' began. Reigning 2007 World Champion Miki Ando won gold medals at Skate Chautauqua in 2005. Kimmie Meissner, 2006 World Champion, skated to gold medals at Skate Chautauqua in 2002 and Jennifer Kirk, the 2000 Junior World Champion, was a winner in Jamestown in 1998. Skate Chautauqua has also been a catalyst that allowed Jamestown to win the bids to present the 2005 U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships and the 2004 and 2007 North Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships. The public is welcome to attend Skate Chautauqua. Compliments of Chautauqua Ice and Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena, admission to all Skate Chautauqua events is free. Competition will be held continuously from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Of special interest will be the New Judging System events in Rink A both Friday and Saturday with some of the top United State and international skaters.
