Thank you for your interest in our Learn to Skate Classes held at the JSBIA!
Our goal is to introduce as many people as possible to the great recreational sport of skating,
both hockey and figure.
The program is designed for skaters from the beginner through advanced levels.
Kids and adults will be learning the FUN-damentals of the sport, which will improve their balance,
agility, turning, stopping, and confidence. Whether your goal is to achieve Olympic fame, or simply
enjoy the recreational benefits of skating, our program is for you!
Brand new skate rentals are available at the rink and are included! We highly recommend that you
use these skates to get started.
The classes include a twenty-minute group lesson and thirty-minutes of practice time. All skaters
ages 7 and under MUST WEAR A BIKE HELMET. Don't forget to dress warm, gloves are a must. New skaters
can join at any time.

The objectives of the program are:

- To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced
skater
- To teach correct technique of the basic elements of skating
- To develop a finer degree of coordination and balance
- To promote physical fitness
- To have fun

- Each 50 minute session begins with a 15 minute practice period, followed by a 20 minute lesson,
and ends with another 15 minutes of practice time.
- Skate rental included in your fee.
- Skaters can join any week. No need to wait for the start of a new session.
- Skaters progress at their own pace.
- Dress warm, in layers but not bulky. Gloves are a must.
- Skaters age 7 and younger must wear a bike helmet.
- Classes are designed to be a positive experience for the skater.
- Classes are taught by our talented coaching staff.
- No food or drink on the ice.

Our coaching staff is available for private lessons. If you would like more information please
